Lakeland, Florida -- Pastor Terry Jones bonded out of a Polk County jail Thursday morning after being arrested Wednesday on felony charges.
Dr. Jones was on his way to his scheduled Quran-burning event at a county park in Mulberry Wednesday evening when he and his driver, Wayne Sapp, were picked up by deputies.
The trouble reportedly started when Jones was spotted carrying his concealed weapon out in the open. Then, deputies say Jones and Sapp were seen pouring kerosene into a smoker -- filled with copies of the Quran -- that was hooked up to the back of a pickup truck.

Both Jones and Sapp are facing charges including unlawful transportation of fuel. Jones is also charged with unlawful open-carry of a firearm, a misdemeanor.
Jones said he intended to burn 2,998 copies of the Muslim holy book, one for every victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He applied for -- but did not receive -- a permit to do so.
Jones and Sapp paid a $1,250 bail and were released from jail Thursday morning. It is unclear whether they have retained an attorney.
