Deluge washes away half of Jessamine Road in Dade City

Dade City, Florida-- Pasco County Sheriff's officials set up barricades on Jessamine Road after a deluge washed away the road bed leaving a gaping hole 20 feet wide by 20 feet deep.  

At least a third of the roadway is missing and will have to be replaced. No vehicles were damaged and no homes or property are in jeopardy, but deputies posted detour signs.  Repairs will begin in the morning.

There was also significant flooding from the evening storms. 

Water build-up near Bayhead Road and Bellamy Brothers Boulevard, as well as Curley Road and Jacana Drive in Wesley Chapel, has flooded cars and closed roads. 

Updated reports mentioned additional flooding along northbound lanes of SR 54/ I75 in a construction area.
