Tampa, FL -- Authorities are continuing to search for suspected killer Demetrius Parks, but Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor says the 23-year-old may have fled the area, possibly the state.
Parks is suspected of killing Family Dollar Store manager Horsley Shorter Jr. on Sunday morning. Shorter was a 26-year Army veteran who was working at the Family Dollar Store located at 4900 N. 40th Street.
"We fell like we are moving in on him at this point," Castor said of Parks on Friday afternoon.
But she said detectives are not confident he is still hiding out in Tampa.
"He may have left the Bay area we're looking at a number of locations, even out of the state of Florida," she told 10 News.
A $16,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Parks arrest and conviction. Anyone with information is asked to call Tampa Police at (813) 309-0467.
Castor added Parks should still be considered armed and dangerous.
"We have not recovered the firearm used, so it's out assumptions he still has that and the public is not to approach him and if you have any information call us and let us take care of it."
