Anna Maria Island, Florida - The body of the teen who was caught in a current on Anna Maria Island was recovered on Sunday morning around 9:00.

Authorities say Dushay Nelson was playing in the water with his 12-year-old brother at the Willow Ave. beach access on Saturday sometime around 4 o'clock Saturday evening.

Rescue crews said Nelson was carried under water by a current and did not resurface.

The Manatee Co. Sheriff's Office Marine Unit and a helicopter scoured the area looked for Nelson's body, with help from a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and lifeguards on jet skis.

After about four hours of searching, and as the sun began to set, the search was called off.

"When it gets dark it gets very tough, but you know, as time goes by, it certainly doesn't look good," said Dave Bristow, spokesperson for the Manatee Co. Sheriff's Office. "This area is notorious for rip currents."

Beachgoers said there are no signs at that public beach warning about deadly currents. The beach at Willow Ave. does not have any lifeguards on it.

"There needs to be a change over here and the county needs to put some signs out here, at the very least warning people about the rip currents," said one beachgoer.

Nelson's body was found around 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 close to where Nelson was swimming.
