Maria Island, Florida - The body of the teen who was caught in a current on Anna
Maria Island was recovered on Sunday morning around 9:00.
Authorities say Dushay Nelson was playing in the water with his 12-year-old
brother at the Willow Ave. beach access on Saturday sometime around 4 o'clock
Rescue crews said Nelson was carried under water by a current and
did not resurface.
Manatee Co. Sheriff's Office Marine Unit and a helicopter scoured the area
looked for Nelson's body, with help from a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and
lifeguards on jet skis.
After about four hours of searching, and as the sun began to set,
the search was called off.
"When it gets dark it gets very tough, but you know, as time
goes by, it certainly doesn't look good," said Dave Bristow, spokesperson
for the Manatee Co. Sheriff's Office. "This area is notorious for rip currents."

currents. The beach at Willow Ave. does
not have any lifeguards on it.

Nelson's body was found around 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 close to where Nelson was swimming.
