SEMINOLE, Florida -- Deputies have arrested a man who allegedly carjacked an 82-year-old man after failing to carjack a woman and her children.
The carjackings both occurred in the parking lot of a Sweetbay Supermarket on Seminole Blvd.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, 37-year-old Anthony Sutton approached 54-year-old Michelle Hingley as she was getting out of her car with her kids and pointed a gun at her. Deputies say the family was able to get away with the car keys.
Sutton then allegedly approached 82-year-old Gerald Kolar, who was waiting for his wife to come out of the store. Detectives say Sutton tapped on Kolar's car window, pointed a gun at him, and told him to get out of the car. Kolar complied, and Sutton took off in his 2003 Buick.
Sutton was later spotted by an undercover detective and, after a short pursuit by law enforcement, was arrested in Largo in the area of Gladys Street and 19th Street.
Sutton is charged with carjacking, attempted carjacking, and felony fleeing and eluding.
No one was injured.
