Bradenton, Florida -- Two parents may face child neglect charges after deputies discovered their home was uninhabitable.

Manatee Sheriff's deputies say they went to the home in the 1700 block of Marilyn Avenue in response to a call around 3:30 Thursday morning. When they got there, they were overwhelmed by the disgusting filth the family was living in.

Deputies reported the home did not have power, the floors were covered with animal feces and urine, and the beds infected with bed bugs. There were dishes piled up in the sink and the bathroom floors were also covered in urine and feces.

The sheriff's office says they have made a request with the State Attorney's Office to charge 47-year-old Lori Nichols and 57-year-old Marvin Nichols with child neglect. The couple has not yet been arrested. However, in the meantime, the 14- and 15-year-old children who were living in the home have been temporarily moved and are staying with a family friend.
