Treasure Island, Florida -- The new weapon of choice in the fight against cancer- paddleboards.
More than 150 paddleboarders are expected to hit the water at the 3rd annual "Paddle Against Cancer" to benefit Moffitt Cancer Center.
Participants can choose from a three-mile or seven-mile paddle around Treasure Island and Paradise Isle through the Intracoastal Waterway that starts at 9:30 a.m. A $35 donation is required to participate.
Then, at noon, there is a poolside party at the Treasure Island Yacht & Tennis Club that is free and open to the public. There will be live music, paddle-board demos, cash bar, an auction and much more.
The event was created by Gene Evans, a Stage 4 kidney cancer survivor to promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.
