Video: Over 40 animals found in feces-filled, Hudson home

Holiday, Florida -- We should learn more Thursday about what will happen to around 30 emaciated animals rescued from a home in Pasco County.

All of the animals were taken from one home at 1011 Hiawatha Place in Holiday. The neighborhood is off Anclote Boulevard, just north of the Pasco-Pinellas county line.

Deputies say a neighbor called them to the house, telling them there was a strong smell coming from it and lots flies on the windows.

A deputy went inside, thinking a person may be in danger in there. Instead, they discovered an upsetting and shocking scene.

Inside the rental house, deputies say they found animal feces strewn everywhere and around 30 neglected, emaciated animals.

Dogs, cats, rabbits, a snake, and a lizard may have been left alone for up to a week, deputies said. Animal services removed all of them.

While 10 News was at the home, a woman arrived and spoke with Pasco County Sheriff's deputies.

According to investigators at the scene the woman is Alicia Nelson, a renter of the house, who may face charges of animal cruelty and animal neglect.

The owner of the home told us Nelson moved in last March with a lease that specified no more than two pets.

What will happen to all of those animals? We should know more on Thursday. Each one needs to be examined to check on its health.

The health concerns aren't just from potentially several days without food. That many animals trapped in a 1,350 square foot house for a week can lead to all sorts of other illnesses and infections.
