Tampa, Florida - The Anderson Road entrance and exit ramps on the Veterans Expressway were closed to traffic on Sunday night.
It was done as part of a $364 million construction effort to install an all electronic toll plaza and upgrades to ease congestion on the Anderson Road ramps.
The Anderson Road project is expected to last 8-9 months and will also include sound barrier walls to reduce noise to affected communities and special aesthetic treatment for the sound barrier walls and the restraining walls.
The two primary alternates will be Linebaugh Avenue to the north or Waters Avenue to the south.
On April 21st, construction began on the Veterans that involved widening the roadway from four lanes to eight lanes from Memorial Boulevard to Gunn Highway.
There are several more projects that will begin on the expressway over the next year.
In 2014, crews will widen Veterans Expressway between Sugarwood Toll Plaza and Gunn Highway.
