Tampa, Florida-- They were known as a loving mother-daughter duo.

Julie Hill and her daughter Tracey led a quiet life in their Northdale home.

Tracey was studying at Keiser University to be a nursing assistant. Her mother was retired after being married to a longtime member of the air force. The couple moved often over the years, and for the last five years, Julie took care of Tracey.

"They were a normal family. We don't know what happened," said Julie's sister in law, Angel Burch.

Julie was found with a gunshot wound to the chest Wednesday night in her living room, and Tracey was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Julie was still alive and called 911 for help, and when deputies arrived, they were shocked by what they found.

According to reports, she told them she shot herself after she had shot her daughter, Tracey.

Medical Personnel took Julie to a local hospital, where she reportedly died a short time later. Tracey was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We don't often see a mother/daughter situation like this. It is unusual," said Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokesperson Larry McKinnon.

It is still unclear as to why Julia would have allegedly killed her daughter then turned the gun on herself.
