St. Pete Police has recovered two firearms that were stolen from a detective's car

St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Pete Police detectives have recovered two firearms that were stolen from a detective's ditched in Lake Maggiore Monday.

On Tuesday March 26, detectives received information that led to the recovery of both firearms from separate locations in the city. The Colt AR-15 was recovered around 6:00 p.m. and the Glock .45-caliber handgun was recovered about a half hour later.

The portable police radio that was stolen has not been recovered at this time.

No arrests have been made on connection with the burglary at this time.

The search for the suspect, or suspects, involved in the burglary of a Pinellas Sheriff's deputy's unmarked police car sometime during the overnight hours of March 11 into March 12. In that incident, numerous firearms, in addition to police issued gear, were stolen from the trunk.

Flyers have been distributed to residents living on or around 42nd Street North in Pinellas Park warning them of criminals targeting cars in the area.
