TAMPA, Florida -- A man accused of choking his estranged wife while she drove in her car has been arrested.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says Alexis Yero was found at a family member's home. When deputies arrived, he allegedly fled on foot and was found by a sheriff's office K-9 hiding in a nearby shed.
On Feb. 27, Yero's wife, Tania Martinez, was on her way to work when she noticed someone in the backseat of her vehicle. Authorities say Yero placed a rope around her neck and began choking her. As she struggled, she lost control of her car and it left the roadway, hitting a fence and flipping over.
