Apparently, the outdoor retailer is looking at options near Wiregrass should a deal with Hillsborough County to build a 150,000-square-foot store off I-75 in Brandon fall through.
"I would love to talk with them," Pasco County Administrator John Gallagher told 10 News when asked about the possibility of bringing Bass Pro to Pasco.
10 News has also learned Gallagher will meet with officials from Bass Pro on Feb. 15.
However, Hagan is still hopeful he can lure Bass to Brandon. Although Wednesday, he admitted time may be running out.
"The unfortunate reality is if we do not end up approving this proposal Bass is going to come to Tampa Bay, but it's going to be at Wiregrass in Pasco County," Hagan said.
On Feb. 20, Hillsborough County Commissioners will once again take up a controversial plan to spend $6.25 million on road improvements around the proposed Brandon Bass Pro site. Hagan says that is down nearly $2 million from last month.
Bass Pro says its store will eventually have an annual economic impact of $113 million with a payroll of $35 million.
Calls to Bass Pro officials for comment about the company's interest in Pasco County were not returned Wednesday.
