PLANT CITY, Fla. (AP) - Eight men have been arrested in connection with an underage sex sting in Plant City.
Police teamed up with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the undercover operation.
Officials told the Tampa Bay Times that officers posted online ads pretending to be minors. The men would respond by text message or email and showed up on Saturday to a pre-arranged location. That's when Plant City police officers arrested the men.
Those men are David Langford, 56, of Alturas; Toby Hebert, 41, of Holiday; David Letchworth, 22, of Tampa; James McGinnis, 46, of Dover; Chuck Lindeen, 53, of St. Petersburg; David Bigelow, 43, of Massachusetts; Peter Ciaverelli, 30, of Tampa, and Joseph Malventano, 23, of Odessa.
All eight men were booked into the Orient Road Jail. They face one felony count of traveling to meet a minor for sex after using a computer. Police say one man faces additional charges for sending links to pornographic photos and for bringing a camera with him to the meeting spot.
