Search for bank burglar wanted out of Hernando, Pasco and Hillsborough counties

Suspect believed to have burglarized at least 9 banks in Pasco, Hillsborough and Hernando counties.

Tampa, Florida -- Five different police agencies are all working together to try and catch a burglar who is targeting banks in three different Bay area counties.

Investigators say the same suspect is responsible for at least nine bank break-ins done in the early morning hours, while the banks are closed.

Detectives have not said what -- if anything -- the burglar was able to steal the banks being closed.

To date, six of the burglaries have happened in Hernando, two in Hillsborough and one in Pasco.  The Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Brooksville Police, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Tampa Police and Pasco County Sheriff's Office are all investigating the burglaries that happened in their respective jurisdictions.

Hillsborough deputies say the suspect is a black male, approximately 5'8" to 5'10", between the ages of 17 and 25. He has a thin build and short hair, and surveillance images show him wearing a hoodie type of sweatshirt and dark pants, and possibly wearing gloves.

Burglaries include:

  • December 22, 2012 - Bay City Bank, 18315 U.S. Highway 41 North, Lutz. Occurred at 3:00 a.m.
  • December 24, 2012 -  Bank of Tampa, 15302 Amberly Drive, Tampa Occurred between 4:00 - 7:00 a.m.
  • December 24, 2012 - Heritage Bank, 28909 State Road 54, Wesley Chapel Occurred between 4:00 - 7:00 a.m.
  • Two burglaries in Brooksville
  • Four burglaries in Hernando County
