Video: Trial continues for man accused of killing wife

Lawrence W. Dickey has been charged with first degree murder for the death of his wife Beatrice Dickey

Tampa, Florida -- Tough testimony on Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing his wife.

His son took the stand and said he witnessed Bea Dickey's murder.

Lawrence Dickey is charged with beating his second wife with a metal baseball bat after they came home from a Journey concert in 2011.

Bea Dickey worked as an assistant for Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. Dickey's two children and stepson were in the home at the time of the killing.

Lawson Dickey told the jury, his dad spoke to him before going into the garage, where the bats were stored.

"He said that my mom was my angel and she'll guide me through everything," Lawson testified.

He then went on to say, "I heard him go to the bedroom and then a couple of seconds later, I heard three whacks."

Later in the afternoon, Dickey took the stand in his own defense, saying he had been drinking heavily the night of the killing, and had no memory of murdering his wife.

After Dickey's testimony, the defense rested their case.  Closing arguments are planned for Wednesday.

If convicted, Lawrence Dickey faces life in prison.
