NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida -- A Pasco gun store owner, who wasn't following proper procedures in handing out gun permits, is behind bars after a federal raid.
Gary Galati, owner of Galati Guns on U.S. 19, was the subject of a 10 News Investigators undercover report. But Galati wasn't just bending some state laws; he was breaking federal drug trafficking laws, according to charges filed by ATF and the U.S. Attorney.
ATF began investigating Galati for marijuana distribution, but responded with a raid of his shop after Galati sold and traded guns along with the drugs. He faces upwards of a dozen years in jail if found guilty of the drug and firearms charges he was arrested Wednesday on.
The ATF told 10 News Investigators it was acting on a tip from concerned citizens about Galati. Sources tell 10 News the agency conducted a forensic audit in June, and that paperwork didn't match up with the guns being bought and sold. If this is true, it could mean Galati sold guns used to commit crimes, and police never would have been able to trace them.
