Maverick was found outside, cold and lonely at 4 weeks old. He was brought to the home of his Foster Mom and has lived the 'easy' life since. Now, he's about 10 weeks old.
He was so scared, hungry and small when he first arrived. He would curl up into a small ball and try to hide, but when left alone he would cry out...sometimes for what seemed like forever. He must have missed his Mom and siblings.

He has a very pronounced "M" on his head, and now shows no fear, so he was named 'Maverick'. He loves playing, attacking everything and running. His favorite toy is one that's tied to a string, which he chases, jumps at, and if he catches it, runs away with it.
He has beautiful soft, brown fur with black markings, and is not too keen on baths. He gets along well with other cats and has met the foster family's big collie, but isn't sure he's a fan yet. He hisses and hides from him most of the time. If he's adopted by a family who has a dog, he will probably grow out of this eventually as long as the dog is calm and doesn't chase him.
Maverick is usually a bit shy when you first meet him, but you only have to grab a toy to convince him to be your buddy. Once he knows you, he's happy to cuddle up and will purr and take a nap with you. He will make a great best friend!
Little Maverick is still living with a foster family, so to make an appointment to meet him, please call the Suncoast Animal League office at 727-786-1330.
