St. Petersburg, Florida -- Police say they are looking for a man who attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl from St. Petersburg.

The girl was able to break free and run home to her mother.

Police say it happened around 4:45 Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of 31st Street South. The girl was reportedly walking home from school when she pased by two men sitting on the front porch of a home.  One of the men called out to her, but the girl ignored him.

That's when the man ran out and grabbed her while the second man remained sitting on the porch.  Based on the man's comments, he may have been planning to sexually assault her.

Fortunately, a third man ran up and started pushing the suspect off of the girl and the told her to run home.

The second man who sat on the porch never spoke or took any part in the attack. Police consider him just a witness at this time.

Police say the girl's injuries support her account of the assault.

After the girl made it back home, her mother called police.  Investigators responded, but were unable to locate either the men who were on the porch or the Good Samaritan who helped the girl.

It is not clear if the men live at the residence where they were seen sitting on the porch.

Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect in this case, as well as the identity of the Good Samaritan.

The suspect who attacked the girl is described as a black male in his early 20's, 5'8" tall with light skin, muscular build and full beard.  Both of his ears are pierced with black and gray earrings.  He had tattoos on the inside of both forearms and was last seen wearing a solid black t-shirt with black cargo style shorts, black socks and Nike sandals.

The man who remained sitting on porch is described as a black male in his early 20's, 5'8" tall with a dark complexion, very thin build, unshaven with small "twisty" braids in his hair. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with the Nike logo "Just Do It" written on the front, black gym shorts and blue stripes down the sides.
