Lakeland, Florida -- A Polk County woman is facing child abuse charges after she allegedly locked up a 4-year-old boy in a kitchen cabinet on several occasions.
Detectives say 42-year-old Lori Hamilton frequently placed the child inside the cabinet and then secured the doors with screws to prevent the child from getting out.

Witnesses describe the residence as "dirty" and having a roach infestation.
The child would reportedly be left in the cabinet for hours at a time, often crying to be let out. On several occasions, he urinated or defecated himself while locked inside, and also suffered from roach and spider bites.
According to Hamilton's arrest report, she would lock up the boy at night, because otherwise he would keep her from sleeping.
The arrest report goes on to say Hamilton claims she only locked him in the cabinet on four occasions, and for only about 20 minutes each time.
Hamilton was arrested for child abuse and booked into the Polk County Jail on no bond.
