Odessa, Florida -- Three people were hospitalized after a cement truck crashed into three separate vehicles waiting at a red light at SR 54 at the Suncoast Parkway Wednesday afternoon.
The FHP says around 11:45 a.m., an empty cement truck was heading south on the Suncoast Parkway and got off at the SR 54 exit. The driver, 39-year-old Jose Felix Fonseca-Reina, told troopers his brakes stopped working and was not able to stop the truck at the bottom of the exit ramp.

He then maneuvered the truck over the raised concrete median, across the westbound lanes of SR 54, across the center grass median and collided with three vehicles that were waiting at the red light at the Suncoast Parkway overpass.
Authorities say all three cars--a 1995 Honda Accord, a 2012 Volvo XC60 SUV and a 2013 Toyota Scion--were waiting in parallel lanes at the light.
The driver of the 1995 Honda, 50-year-old Johanna Cronin from Land O' Lakes, was taken to Tampa General. The driver of the 2012 Volvo, 37-year-old Maria Gelyon from Land O' Lakes, was taken to St. Joseph's along with the driver of the 2013 Toyota 27-year-old Ashley Campbell from Dade City. All are listed in serious but stable condition.
Fonseca-Reina, of Port Richey, received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
