Recia Henry sent a text to a Tampa Bay reporter threatening to blow up a local child care center
Tampa, Florida -- A woman has been arrested after she allegedly sent a text message to a Tampa Bay news reporter, threatening to "blow up" a children's care center.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the text read, "like I gotta make threats to be heard , its F....... up how I'm being done with my kids but if I go and blow up the H.K.I East Care Center then everyone is gonna want to listen then."
After viewing the text on Wednesday, the reporter, who was not identified, contacted law enforcement.
Deputies went to the child care center, located at 4520 Oak Fair Blvd., to conduct a search. The building is Eckerd Community Alternative, but was previously known as Hillsborough Kids, Inc. Nothing unusual was found in the search.
At approximately 8:40 p.m., officials say a deputy went to the home of 27-year-old Recia Henry after linking her to the text message's telephone number.
Henry, according to officials, acknowledged the phone number as hers and let the deputy see her cell phone. She allegedly admitted to sending the text message to the reporter.
Henry was arrested and charged with threatening to discharge a destructive device.
