New Port Richey, Florida -- A one-stop center to help folks recovering from Tropical Storm Debby flooding and damage opens this morning.

Pasco County and Hernando County have both been declared disaster areas by the federal government, meaning people in those communities can tap into millions of dollars in aid from the people of the United States.

FEMA, the Small Business Administration, and several other agencies will all be staffing a disaster recovery center in New Port Richey to help connect people with that help.

The one-stop disaster recovery center is in the Trouble Creek Square Shopping Center at the corner of Trouble Creek Road and Grand Boulevard. The address is 4444 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey.

Workers will be there from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. FEMA has not announced how long the center will be operating, but their news release gives the impression that it will be in place for several days.

There are other ways to apply for FEMA disaster assistance or find out more information.

In all, $7.7 million in state and federal aid has been approved to help Florida's recovery from Tropical Storm Debby. Much of that comes from the people of the United States living elsewhere in the country.
