ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A Bay area man says there's a better way to treat bed bugs and the solution is already being used at several shelters in St. Petersburg right now.

It's called EcoBugFree.

Tom Sexauer is the CEO of FloridaFresh, the company that makes the product, and he says it's all natural -- 100 percent non toxic to people but 100 percent toxic to bed bugs.

"Our product penetrates the ecoskeleton of the bedbug and kills it from the inside out, so it goes in the joints and goes in and normally a 10 to 15 second drop time. It's an on-contact solution."

Sexauer says it's already being used at the Beacon House shelter, St. Petersburg Free Clinic, and at CASA, a domestic violence shelter.

The product isn't used to just treat bed bugs to get rid of them. It can also be used as part of a maintenance program to prevent bed bug infestations.

While the solution is being marketed to shelters, assisted living facilities and hotels we found it also being sold online to consumers. Click here for more information.
