ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- The Tampa Bay area is getting some national attention for the wrong reason.
Tampa has been named one of the country's smuttiest cities, meaning it's among the places with the most people addicted to porn.
According to Men's Health Magazine, based on X-rated DVD's purchased, adult entertainment shops, and Internet porn searches, Orlando ranked #1, Tampa #8, and Miami #12.
But does that type of thing hurt the area's reputation?
"Honestly, it probably has somewhat of a negative effect," said Brandon resident Drew McClain.
But recently the region has popped up on a number of negative lists.
Just within the past year, St. Pete was named the saddest city in the country, while Tampa has become the buggiest and most stressful spot in the U.S.
On top of that, Tampa Bay has been mentioned among the most dangerous places for pedestrians, the cities getting the least amount of sleep, the fattest cities, and the most frugal.
If all someone did was look at those lists, they may not think very highly of the area.
"I guess they would influence me a little bit, maybe," said Trevor Melton, visiting from Seattle.
Tampa Bay and Company CEO Kelly Miller recognizes all of the attention could have a negative impact, but is trying to prevent that. His main concern is making sure Florida stays at the top of the list for families looking to vacation.
"Once people come and experience the Tampa Bay area, all these lists, these negative lists don't matter," he said.
On the positive side, Tampa Bay has recently appeared on lists for safest cities for families to raise young children and the most tolerant area.
