At about 4:30 a.m. Friday, investigators say they found a small pickup truck pulled off the side of the road, backed into a wooded area alongside the railroad tracks.
Detectives say they saw 36-year-old Samuel Gay and 38-year-old April Lopez trying to load onto the truck a piece of rail approximately 15 feet in length.
Both were arrested and they were each charged with one count of interference with railroad track or equipment.
Investigators say CSX had recently replaced the steel tracks in the area and left the old rails off to the side, to eventually recycle them. The actual railroad track was not damaged.
