St. Petersburg, Florida -- A large nuisance alligator was caught in St. Pete on Wednesday.

Trapper Charles Carpenter was able to wrangle the gator with the help of some St. Petersburg Police officers on 4th Street South near 13th Avenue South.

The gator, measuring almost 12 feet in length, had been known to roam the area for some time and lost its fear of humans after people fed it.

Because it lost its fear of humans, it cannot be relocated to another spot and will be put down.
