OCALA, Florida -- Marion County Fire Rescue responded to an alligator bite at Silver Springs Amusement Park.

Fire rescue said one patient will be flown as a trauma alert to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Joy Hill of the Fish and Wildlife Commission said the man was bit within the attraction, but she is not sure if the alligator was wild or part of the attraction.

Hill said the victim was bit in the neck, near the head, but he is conscious and speaking.

Fire rescue said the man was a researcher with water management and was in a restricted area.

Silver Springs, located in Ocala, is an amusement park that offers guests, river cruises, wildlife exhibits, rides and activities, botanical gardens and shopping and dining.
