Tampa, Florida - The closest family and friends of George Steinbrenner will reportedly bid the late Yankees owner farewell in a private funeral Saturday in Tampa.
His extended family - tens of thousands of Yankees fans -- will get their chance Friday night.
The Yankees announced specifics for a pregame remembrance of Steinbrenner, who died Tuesday, nine days after his 80th birthday. The ceremony will also honor longtime Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard, who died Sunday.
The club is urging fans attending Friday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. There will be a video tribute to Steinbrenner and a moment of silence for both he and Sheppard.
Further tributes to the two will be revealed during Friday's ceremony, and additional ceremonies will be held during Old-Timers' Day events on Saturday.
