Port Richey, Florida - Glenda O'Meara just moved up north from the Bay area two months ago and says she wishes she was in town to comfort her friend, Nicole Oulson. O'Meara says she's known Nicole and her husband, Chad, for six years and can remember when they all first met.

O'Meara says, "They had just moved here and I had just gotten into real estate and they were looking at houses, so I started spending quite a bit of time with them, and we just clicked and became friends pretty easy."

She says she found out on Facebook that Chad was shot and killed in a Wesley Chapel movie theater during an argument over texting.

"I'm dumbfounded. How can somebody shoot somebody over something like that and not have enough control? How do you lose control over something so stupid and take a life?"

She says she can understand completely why Chad was so adamant about texting his daughter. "She had Daddy wrapped right around that pinky. Well, obviously, 3-year-olds can't read, but I remember the days when I would babysit for Lexy for a full day. He would text me through the day, 'Tell Lexy Daddy loves her. Tell Lexy Daddy will see her after work.' That kind of stuff. That doesn't actually mean the 3-year-old is reading the text."

Chad worked at Sky Powersports in Port Richey, and while the workers there declined an on-camera interview, a sales associate says Chad spent the past seven years working there as a finance manager. They say he was more like family.

O'Meara says, "Chad was funny. I remember when we all first started hanging out, I would tell him it's like hanging out with my brother because we would pick at each other make fun of each other, give each other a hard time."

A memorial service for Chad is being being held on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Loyless Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Loyless Funeral Home is located at 5310 Land O'Lakes Blvd. in Land O'Lakes.
