Sarasota, Florida -- A high-powered attorney enters the Rebecca Sedwick cyberbullying case.

Jose Baez -- the Orlando attorney who successfully defended Casey Anthony in the murder trial of her two-year-old daughter -- will represent the 12-year-old Lakeland girl charged with felony aggravated stalking in the alleged cyberbullying suicide death of Rebecca Sedwick.

"He may have gotten used to the TV cameras with Casey Anthony and likes the idea of a high-profile case," said Tampa attorney Barry Cohen.

The well-known criminal defense attorney said this kind of case can further advance a lawyer's career and he may find it defensible.

Cohen said with the entire public outcry against bullying and the new cyberstalking law, Baez will have a tough time defending the 12-year-old who faces up to five years in jail.

"There needs to be a stop to this kind of foolishness," Cohen said.

The 12-year-old girl admitted to deputies she bullied Sedwick and picked fights with her, but Sedwick never fought back and she told deputies she is sorry.

Sedwick jumped off an abandoned cement plant tower on Sept. 9. Investigators and her family say bullying that started at school and continued online pushed Sedwick over the edge.

Cohen says if he were defending the girl he'd make a positive example of her.

"Suspend her from school for a year and have her go speak to schools across the country."

He added, "She's stepping up to the plate admitting what she did is wrong -- setting good example across the country to avoid consequences took place here."

Cohen says she wouldn't go to jail under those circumstances.

Baez was not available for comment Wednesday. His spokesperson sayid Baez spent the day meeting with the 12-year-old and her family at his Orlando office.

The other teen arrested in this case will be arraigned in a Polk County courtroom Friday morning.
