TAMPA, Florida - A Tampa Bay area Marine is back at home and got to meet his daughter for the first time, after spending nine months away.

Corporal Thomas Thornsberry was greeted by his wife, three-week-old daughter, parents and other family members and friends at Tampa International Airport Tuesday.

He spent the last eight months aboard the USS Green Bay, with a total of five years in the Marines. Now his service is complete and he's home to stay.

"Awesome, is the best way to put it," said Cpl. Thornsberry, while he held his daughter. "She's beautiful. Just like her mother."

"It was just as exciting as I thought it would be. We feel complete finally," said Cpl. Thornsberry's wife, Ana.

The family said they plan to spend the rest of the week just relaxing and spending time together.
