ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- A murder mystery is being investigated in the Euclid-St. Paul neighborhood in St. Pete on 13th St. North.
A man's body was found burned to death inside the home.
The question is -- who is he? And how did this happen?
Homicide investigators from St. Pete Police were on scene, in addition to fire rescue crews. Detectives call the death suspicious.
The massive fire broke out around 6:30, and the back of the bungalow-style house was "fully engulfed."
"It's a nice house," said Lt. Joel Granata. "We found him by the back door."
Sources say the man's body was so badly burned that it was difficult to identify him.
Adding to the mystery? Another man was found in the front yard collapsed. He was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center for smoke inhalation. Some say he was helping to fight the fire.
At one point, the flames were so bad they snapped a power line in two. "We had to be very careful. It was intense. Duke Energy responded quickly and cut the power. It was dangerous."
Invetigatigators were still on scene at midnight.
More information should be released on the case on Thursday.
