INVERNESS, Florida -- The Citrus County Sheriff's Office isn't releasing a lot of details on what caused the death of 2-and-a-half year old Aliyah Marie Branum, but they say the medical examiner has ruled the child's death a homicide.

A Memorial RIP Facebook page has already been created in the child's honor. It reads, "God gained a little angel. She was loved by all and always had a smile on her face. Rest in peace, baby girl."

Detectives say they responded to a Citrus County home on Friday and found Aliyah in distress. She was rushed to Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, where she died a short time later.

10 News spoke to two women at Raintree Apartments in Inverness, who remember when the child and her mother lived there. One woman, with tears in her eyes, said the little girl was a sweet child, but she and another woman refused to talk on camera because they said they don't want to get involved.

Meanwhile, on the mother's Facebook page there's talk about baby #2 and there's a sonogram posted as well. Other postings on the memorial page show an outpouring of support over the loss of Aliyah, and there are photos on Chelsea Huggett's page showing Chelsea's fiancée, Jason Ruane, in his U.S. Army uniform holding the little girl.

When 10 News went to Huggett's home, where she's said to be staying with her parents, everyone in the driveway bolted to get away. Someone did open the door about an inch or so to say, "No comment" and, "Get off our property."
