ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a duo who they say have robbed four convenience stores in less than a week.
According to investigators, the first robbery happened Thursday at the Citgo at 900 34th Street North. On Monday, they targeted the Reliance Gas Station at 5405 MLK Street North, and 15 minutes later also hit Maher Food Market at 2835 16th Street North.
The latest robbery took place Wednesday when investigators say the crooks struck the Sunoco at 6800 4th Street North.
According to police, the men use the same method in all the robberies. They both walk in to the stores wearing hoodies, and most times cover their faces. One is armed with a gun and threatens the clerk, while the other goes behind the register and grabs the cash.
In some cases, investigators say the duo also stole cell phones and lottery tickets from the stores.
The clerk at the Reliance store who was robbed at gunpoint, Sabina Khoja, remains shaken from the crime. "Right now, I am very scared. Yesterday I came to the store, but after I was just standing right there and watching outside," she said.
The robbers are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.
Call St. Petersburg Police at 727-893-7780, 727-892-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS if you have any information on these crimes.
