Tampa, Florida -- Friday morning is starting with only a few flight delays at Tampa International Airport the day after snow storms pummeled the midwest, forcing airlines to cancel about 1,000 flights. Most of those cancelations were out of the Chicago area.

Weather will continue to plague some travelers as high winds and rain move into the northeast. Delays may be felt from DC to New York City through Saturday.

AAA estimates as many as 5.6 million people will fly to their destinations this holiday weekend, a 4.5% increase from last year.

A total of 93.3 million people will be traveling to their holiday destinations, most by automobile with 84.4 million people loading up the cars for grandma's house.

A reminder--if you are picking up friends and family at Tampa International Airport, keep in mind that you are no longer allowed to wait inside your vehicle at the curbside if they are not quite there yet. You are encouraged to use the Cell Phone Waiting Lot until your guests are ready to be picked up at the arrival curb. This policy change took effect this week.
