St. Petersburg, Florida -- Friends, family and fans will remember St. Pete artist Bill Correira, better known by the name "Woo", at American Stage Theater tonight.
Outside Woo Gallery near 6th and Central, people have left candles, notes, and flowers in front of the gallery and near the mural in the alley. Friends have put his artwork into a moving truck.
Correira moved to St. Petersburg in 1976 where he worked on his paintings of fish. He was well-known and well-liked along Central Avenue.
"When you hear about Woo and something like this, you just feel empty. And I will tell you this without any type of reserve, Central Avenue on the 600 block will never be the same without Woo," friend Jon Beaton said.
There's an artist event for him tonight at American Stage Theater and tomorrow night at Sake Bomb.
