Video: Bubba the Love Sponge suggests Hulk Hogan leaked sex tape

Bubba "the Love Sponge" Clem

Tampa, Florida -- While blasting his former friend on the radio Tuesday, Bubba the Love Sponge Clem suggested Hulk Hogan had something to do with the release of Hogan's sex tape.

"I can't validate the validity as to -- and this is just my personal opinion -- that he didn't have something to do with the leaking of it," Clem told his listeners.

He also called Hogan a horrible father and a liar while saying he's yet to see the video of Hogan having sex with Clem's ex-wife.

But the former wrestler's legal team fired back Tuesday afternoon calling Clem's actions; "pathetic."

In a prepared statement Hogan's representatives also said; "Any person who suggests that (Hogan) had any involvement in creating or distributing the tape is engaged in defamation, and will be sued for it."

Meantime, some legal experts say Hogan will have a difficult time winning a legal case against Clem.

"Well first he has to prove that it was an invasion of privacy rights but then the second part of that case after you establish liability is to prove damages and you're going to have to prove that this invasion of privacy hurt him in the public eye and I don't see how that's true," local attorney Jeff Brown told 10 News.

Brown who is not connected to the case went on to say if anything Hogan may actually have benefited by the tape's release because of the publicity he is now getting.

"If we know anything about sex tapes in the past... sex tapes actually advance your career so I think he's really going to have a hard time proving that somehow in the public eye this damaged his reputation. I think he's actually going to find it actually enhances it."

In recent days Hogan has appeared on the Today Show and CNN talking about the tape.  His story has also appeared in hundreds of newspapers and online sites like TMZ.com.

Ad experts 10 News spoke with say all that coverage is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Plus, University of South Florida College of Business Professor of Marketing Dr. Dip Biswas says given Hogan's image as a wrestler or action star, it's hard to find a downside to the tape being leaked.

"If you were in a different kind of business like a minister or like a religious person that works against you but if you are a wrestler... sex works in your favor so I can't see why he wouldn't want it out there," Biswas said.

On Monday Hogan filed two lawsuits over the leaked tape. One suit names Clem and Clem's former wife as defendants while the other suit was filed against Gawker Media.
