WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Some neighbors in a Winter Haven apartment complex are shocked that police busted an alleged meth lab operation in one of the units there.

Police arrested the woman who rents the apartment, Tammy Ryan, along with three other men. The apartment complex, Palm Place, is located along the 2400 block of 2nd Street NW. Neighbors said while they were a little suspicious about quite a bit of traffic in and out of the apartment, they never expected an alleged meth lab.

A woman who lives right next door to Ryan said she's glad police raided the apartment before anything happened.

"All I can say is, 'Thank God.' 'Cause, you know, I got four kids. And if that thing would have blown up, we all could have been gone. I'm terrified and I thank God they got it before something did happen," said Shekita Graham.

Winter Haven police said a number of tips led them to the unit Friday. When they went inside the apartment, they allegedly found Dylan Shoemaker pouring something down the drain. They then discovered Edward Harvey -- who police say lived there -- in a bedroom along with all the materials of an active meth lab. Police also arrested John Vona.

Palm Place is a government subsidized complex. Graham said the apartments get inspected every month, but believes someone may have simply disregarded the chemicals, not knowing what to really look for. Another neighbor, who didn't want to be identified, said she was shocked at the potential danger of it all.

All four suspects face various drug charges, including Possession of Meth with Intent to Sell.
