Donald Montanez shot and killed a man he says was threatening him while he tried to tow his car in 2006.
TAMPA, Fla. -- A Tampa tow truck driver about to go on trial on murder charges is speaking out for the first time about standing his ground.
Donald Montanez shot and killed a man he says was threatening him while he tried to tow his car. In an interview you'll see only on 10 News, anchor Reginald Roundtree spoke with Montanez about his upcoming trial and the events that led up to the altercation between him and Glen Rich outside the Sugar Shack nightclub back in 2006.
He says if he didn't fire at Rich, he wouldn't be alive. He had to stand his ground. "It just got to a split sec decision. I live it every day of my life now," Montanez said.
Jury selection in the case begins on Monday.
