WASHINGTON (AP) — Doctors around the country say Senator Tim Johnson's recovery is encouraging.
Today the South Dakota Democrat's office released more details about his progress, saying he's been responding to his wife.
It's small but significant progress, and one doctor says it sounds “like a reasonable course of recovery.” But he cautions that recovery usually takes place over long periods of time.
Johnson is in critical but stable condition following brain surgery and his doctors say he's experiencing some post-surgery swelling. They say he'll stay in the hospital until it goes down.
Doctors expect Johnson to undergo physical therapy as part of his recovery. They say he was feeling weakness on his right side when he was taken to a hospital Wednesday after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
