BRADENTON BEACH, Florida - UPDATE: Bradenton Police are working to organize another search for 6-year-old Lamontea Taylor.

Authorities will decide on Monday if they will continue the search for the body of a boy who was washed away by rip currents on Cocquina Beach.

"We're running out of daylight, boats had to come in to be refueled. By the time we regrouped and we're ready to go back out, it's going to be dark already," said Sgt. James Gill with the Bradenton Beach Police Department.

Crews called off the search for Lamontea Taylor at around 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

Police marine units, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Florida Fish and Wildlife spent Sunday looking for the missing 6-year-old, who is now presumed dead.

"He's in the water, and at this point still going to be under water. There's only so much we can do," said Gill.

The search area is focused around Bradenton Beach to Whitney Beach, both the Gulf and Intracoastal Waterway sides of Anna Marie Island and Longboat Key. But with so much area to cover, authorities also asked for help from recreational boaters.

"We ran that whole beach and we came in and we actually ran all the way up to Coon Key and Sister Key and all through there," said Jacob Baird.

The boat captain devoted two hours of his day to search for Taylor before finally giving up.
