Sarasota, Florida - Six women were arrested on charges of prostitution in Sarasota's North District on Thursday.

The Sarasota Police say they do this regularly when they see women who they think are prostitiutes, or they get complaints.

They tell Tampa Bay's 10 that once a month, they usually perform a prostitution sting and a John sting, and that afterwards, the prostitutes usually disappear, but eventually come back.

Here's what the official police Press Release says:

Members of the Sarasota Police Department NET unit (neighborhood enforcement team), with the assistance of the Narcotics Unit and CRT (Community Resource Team), conducted an undercover operation targeting the crime of Prostitution.

This operation was conducted in the North District of the City.

As a result, six individuals were arrested on a total of eight charges.

All six suspects were charged with prostitution. Additionally, Sarah Sweeny was charged with possession of rock cocaine, and Michelle Gill was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
