Valrico, Florida -- Deputies have arrested a teenager they say stole $160 in car wash proceeds intended to buy Little League Baseball uniforms.

They say Leonard Obi, 17, of Brandon grabbed a plastic bucket containing the cash last Saturday morning and fled.

Deputies said the investigation led them to Obi who was arrested on Petit Theft charges. He was also carrying a weapon and some pot at the time of his arrest, leading to additional charges of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of marijuana, they said.

The stolen money was not recovered, but detectives at the Brandon District office took up a collection among themselves and, as of this morning, had raised a little more than $130 for the Little League.
