Sarasota, Florida - Sarasota Police officers arrested two people on multiple drug charges last night saying their vehicle was stopped for having a broken brake light.

The officers spotted the vehicle headed north on Central Avenue around 11:00 pm Wednesday. In addition to the broken brake light, police say the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at 17th Street and North Tamiami Trail.

A traffic stop was made and after talking with passengers the officers decided to call out a K-9 team to search of the vehicle.

The K-9 alerted officers to the possibility of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. Officers searched inside the car and located one full syringe with heroin, eight used syringes, 15 bags of heroin, two bags of cocaine, and six Xanax pills without a prescription.

Police arrested 24-year-old Justin L. Krugman and 36-year-old Shelley Anne Schlisner, both of South Leewynn Drive in Sarasota.

Schlisner was charged with possession of heroin, cocaine, marijuana, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. Krugman was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
