Video: Helping Rebuild Lives!
On November 11th, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay will hand over to the keys to a safe, permanent home to local hero Richard Clark-Bartlett and his three young daughters. Additional support from the community is needed in order to complete the goal of providing everything necessary for the family to live safely in the home. The project is part of RTTB's Fall Rebuild Initiative, which includes rehabs of homes for three local veterans and their families.
Clark-Bartlett served his country honorably for 18 years in the U.S. Armed Forces. Throughout multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, he received numerous decorations and awards, including a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. A severe injury during his final deployment has left Richard 80% disabled. As the primary guardian for his three daughters, Miracle, 12; Faith, 9; and Patience, 4, the family has struggled with financial problems that accompany a decrease in benefits as Clark-Bartlett's medical condition shows slight improvements.
In partnership with Chase and Sears Heroes at Home, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay is completing major renovations to a home located at 6214 15th Ave. South in Tampa. Generous donations have already been received from Atlas Roofing and Shon Boswell Contracting, Liberty Pest Management, Pinellas County Job Corps, Paragon Plumbing, Tincher's Well Drilling, Re-Screen and Repair, PGT Industries, and ETA Services, LLC. However, additional donations are needed in order to complete the necessary renovations to make the home safe for the Clark-Bartlett family to move in on Veterans Day. The family currently lives in a transitional housing area for veterans that operates solely on the contributions of donors, which results in the ever-present risk that financial resources will run out leaving the family without shelter.
Through sharing of Richard Clark-Bartlett's story of service, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay hopes to rally the community to support this veteran who has given so much to his country. Rebuilding Together's Veterans Housing Initiative was implemented to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars. The initiative serves to assist retired and active service men and women with much-needed housing modifications and repair services. Working in partnership with corporate sponsors, RTTB's Veterans Housing Initiative strives to provide safe and accessible housing for all low-income veterans.
