Tampa, FL - In late June the Citizens board voted to raise rates by a statewide average of 7 percent next year.  The rate hike still needs approval by state regulators. But if approved, it would translate into $178 million in new insurance costs for policyholders like you.

Citizens Property Insurance Corporation will hold "Office Hours" at the Chamber's Headquarters today from 9:00-11:00am.  In response to Senator Brandes' request, Citizens will have staff available to assist those who have questions about their homeowner's insurance policies.

Citizens policyholders who live in Senate District 22 (Tierra Verde, St. Pete Beach, South Pasadena, Treasure Island, Madeira Beach, Redington Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Shores, Indian Shores, Indian Rocks Beach, St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Kenneth City and Tampa) and wish to schedule a time to meet with Citizens staff today, should contact Doug Izzo at or call 727-360-6957.  Attendees must have an address within senate district.  Once scheduled, policyholders should bring with them any documents that would aid in addressing their questions.  The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce is located at 6990 Gulf Boulevard, St. Pete Beach, Florida 33706.
