Tampa, Florida-- Levi Dixon, Jr. was a 17-year-old gospel singer attending Blake High School when he was tragically shot and killed on July 27, 2008.

Saturday marks five years since his murder and the case remains unsolved, but a touching musical tribute recently released by Dixon's longtime friend has detectives and family members hopeful for new leads.

AJ Crawford, who goes by the stage name Young AJ, recently released "Dear Lee" in Dixon's honor. He wrote the song as a way of coping with the unsolved murder, and to also speak out against violence.

On Facebook, Crawford is pictured kneeling next to Dixon's grave. The photo's caption explains the importance of the heartfelt tribute- saying he wrote, directed and edited the piece himself. All in honor of the teen he considered to be a brother.

The music video gives viewers a real sense of the life the friends once lead together. It includes a clip of Dixon singing in studio one year before his murder, and views of their high school, local hangouts and even the intersection where Dixon lost his life.

Detectives believe the murder was a case of mistaken identity, and are offering a $3,000 reward to solve the case. They say they are confident there are people who have crucial information that can lead to an arrest, and bring closure to Dixon Jr.'s family and friends.
