(Sports Network) - The Jazz need a point guard to replace Mo Williams, who is
a free agent likely out the door. They traded both of their first-round picks
for Trey Burke, the national player of the year.
Two first-round picks is a lot to give up for a guy who may not be big enough
to be a huge-impact guy. But what made the Burke trade shrewd was that he's
the type of player whom others will want to go to battle alongside.
Burke has a sensational ability to lead and take over games. He certainly can
score and distribute, but his lack of height and athleticism could be a
When it comes to size, Gobert is not going to disappoint.
Acquired in a trade with the Denver Nuggets, Gobert measured with a 7-foot-9
wingspan and a standing reach of 9-7. Basically, Gobert is longer than a Navy
submarine, so one day, he should be an elite rim protector.
The Jazz are marvels in some ways.
With four of their five starters most likely departing, they will be just fine
with recent draft picks. Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter will fill in up front
and now with Burke and Gordon Hayward in the backcourt, Utah has something
going for itself.
