FALMOUTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - State Police say a 19 car crash had closed down I-295 in Falmouth this morning.

State Police say it took almost four hours to clean up the pileup. They say the chain reaction crash started when a car spun out in the southbound lane in Cumberland, just north of the Falmouth Line. Five other vehicles then collided with it.

After, 13 other vehicles were then involved. Traffic was then backed up for miles until a number of wreckers were able to clear the roadway.

Police were able to get one lane opened, but say traffic slowed to a crawl.

State Troopers report one person was transported to the hospital by ambulance and the injury was not life threatening.

State police also report a number of other crashes that took place along the Maine Turnpike. They say the trouble spots were from Kennebunk to Biddeford-Saco.

It's near mile marker 12. No word on injuries.

State Police say there are a number of crashes on 295 and the Maine Turnpike. Take it slow.
